sorry for the mistakes!
Everybody brought something home from work. Without exaggeration, but a
pen, a clip, a bit 'of sheets, everybody sooner or later are taken them at
home.
So we should not be scandalized if Robert does the same thing. The
problem is, more than anything else, the job of Robert. Indeed, he works for
the "Street Cleaner" a company that recovers, sometimes scraping from
the asphalt, the corpses. So, the home of Robert is full of various offal, put
in formalin.
We follow the way of irony, to mitigate the heaviness of this movie,
disturbing, repulsive, even for fans of extreme horror or splatter.
But we must recognize that this German film of 1987 is a masterpiece of
its genre and we must also recognize that the director Jorg Buttgereit, manages
to create a great work suspended between horror, gore, necrophilia, and poetry
. Yes poetry!
Starting from a great title, the German director takes us in a very
heavy place as the images says, but very mild in the sense, removing as many
words as possible, replaced by the music and telling us a real love story. He
succeeds creating a film that stands out, making us forget the total
craftsmanship of his work.
So "Nekromantik" has become a cult in underground cinema, a
production with a very small budget and a movie starred by, by non-professional
actors.
We talk about Robert and his strange collection that grow in
"value" when one day he comes home with a whole body. The arrival the
body will fundamentally change the relationship between Rob and his girlfriend
Betty, creating a morbid relationship with the corpse. A ménage à trois on
which course the director doesn't fly over. The relationship breaks down when
Rob is fired and Betty runs off with her new "boyfriend" decomposed
(funny to say, but to see it, believe it, is much less). Rob in despair
understands that there is only one way to regain Betty, and we see it in the very strong final scene.
