Sgt.Kabukiman NYPD
Among the many unlikely heroes of "B's", we must admit that an
absolutely place of honor, is reserved to Sergeant Kabukiman of New
York Police Department. An idol.
He is the protagonist of the movie "Sgt Kabukiman NYPD Blue", by the
legendary Troma, and he is at the centre is of an irresistible
irreverent satire against crime, action movies, Japanese traditions and
in small part horror movie. Compared to his close friend Toxic Avenger,
Kabukiman, is a more accessible comedy more accessible, less zany, more
clownish. The result is a film that can reach a wider audience, a film
that avoids the delirium of the mythical lumpy hero, which of course,
we adore too.
The brand Troma is absolutely clearly visible, with its proverbial "low
budget" made of reused scenes, mistakes and an endless array of
trash things that make this film a real cult.
Kabukiman is the story of a loser police officer who is in the wrong place at the wrong time.
After a lot 'of time the astral alignment of some planets and some
strange ritual, like riding a jaguar, could allow the evil to rule the
world. An ancient Japanese family, know that, they are the part of an
ensemble of actors, great artists of the Kabuki theater, which for
centuries has been passed down the mighty powers kabuki and while
there, watches over the world. But Reginald Stewart a mega industrial
who wants to rule the world (a mix between Berlusconi and Bush), knows
these powers, and wants to steal the kabuki power
The ideal moment for this theft is a representation in which the tycoon
and his men massacred the actors on stage. But the loser policement
Harry Griswold is the wrong place and helping an actor wounded take the
kabuki's power.
The good Harry then became the powerful Kabukiman who fights the evil,
among various problems (style TV show The Greatest American Hero), with
sushi, fans, chopsticks and a few moves of kung fu, for the most
important occasions, dressed (transformed) in kabuki actor.
A mix of styles perfectly successful that gives some memorable scenes
demented, as the erroneous transformation in clown or even air sickness
that affects Kabukiman during the flight.
Memorable character, Kabukiman which has been a success so huge as to
be cited often in other films of the production house of New Jersey and
especially reworked and used in Toxic Avenger where figures to be a
close friend (a bit 'too much, we might say watching the episode IV) of
the great toxic hero.
