Zombi Holocaust

In this incredible trash container, we also see a bit 'of romance, which gives us certain nostalgia for the good old days.
If we use the imagination, it does not need a lot, looking at the result, things must be going in a certain way.
A producer, Fabrizio De Angelis, who has already given to the cinema some genre films  as "Napoli Violenta", "Emanuelle perchè violenza alle donne?" "Zombie 2", before launching into several other successful or almost films, notes that in that period cannibals movies have a certain success, as the films set in exotic countries, and he knows that beautiful actresses catch the audience. Even the zombies’ work well, thanks to the return of Romero and thanks to "his" "Zombi 2", co-produced a short time before.
He sums things, think about a catchy title, which has assonance with a sensational movie released in the same period and creates this "Zombie Holocaust". Cannibals, zombies, blood and boobs. Voilà. As director we find the great but old, Marino Girolami that seventy-six years old, after directing some 'sexy Italian comedies as "La moglie vergine", "Pierino Colpisce ancora" and the poliziottesco "Italian a Mano Armata" find himself in a genre that doesn’t seems in his style.
The result doesn’t disappoint at all, in the sense that with all these premises you can only think of an incredible, unwatchable, infinitely bad, "B Movie." And so it is, you think about a bad movie, and you have a bad movie.
Today "Zombie Holocaust" could be called an intellectual film quoting other films, but we know that more than quote here them copy and takes badly from other films. And the list is long. Deodato's masterpiece "Cannibal Holocaust", is in fact not only present in the title, but is used as a model for several directorial choices. From "Emanuelle Around the World?" there is the music composed by Nico Fidenco and from "La Montagna del Dio Cannibale" the scene of the heroine Ursula Andress, tied, naked and ready to be sacrificed by the tribes. From all the horror movies there are various things, like the mad scientist, the cursed island and tons of offal.

A male nurse caught eating a corpse is thrown out the window. He Lands and lose an arm (?) which is then re-attached to the body in the next scene (?). The police, Core Health (?), handling the case, not a single event but a series of cases of urban cannibals. After some investigation, more or less seriously, everything seems to have originated from the Moluccas.
So for the Asian archipelago, leave the usual group of persons: Lori Ridgeway hospital doctor and anthropologist, beautiful, cultured and with two degrees. The Dott./Ispector Peter Chandler, journalist Susan Kelly, her boyfriend/cop Peter and a number of persons found on the island provided by Dott.O'Brian, doctor who working for years on those islands.
The goal is the atoll of Kito, a place hard to find, which is find only thanks a fortunate failure of the aircraft's engine. It’s from there that the infection of cannibal zombies born and kills among others, some person of the group of researchers.
Everything seems to end and, Dr. O'Brien is going to organize the return of his colleagues, but the wily Peter has noticed that there is a hidden truth, the most classic of the genre.
Talk about "Zombie Holocaust" not honors it and doesn’t give the sensation of where and how this movie goes deep in trash needless to say there is a bad acting and a bad directing that apart from taking ideas from Deodato doesn’t move too much. A true "scult" a very funny movie.
We can say many bad things about this movie, but there is one aspect which instead is very well chosen, and is the choice of the protagonist: Alexandra Delli Colli. Blonde and beautiful had a short career that hasn’t brought her honor and has reached the top of the fame with this movie. At his side we find the better known Ian McCulloch, the protagonist of "Zombi 2" that we will see in other genre films including "Contamination-Alien arrives on Earth" by Luigi Cozzi.
"Zombie Holocaust" was received very badly, especially in the UK, where it ended up not among the "Video Nasty" but among the obscene publications according to a law of 1977 and according to the Cambridgeshire police. Only since 2000 the British can enjoy this example of Italic genius. And they doesn’t thank us enough.
