The First Nudie Musical

Sometimes is just luck, do you know how it works? When things go like they have to go, when everything is in the right place. A nice idea, the right compromise between comedy and nudity, and the benevolence of mischievous critics and audiences. Then no matter whether on balance there are good flashes, but not a masterpiece, because that's it: the film is cult.

"The First Nudie Musical" becomes a cinematic event since its release. In 1976. Very low budget, high yield, for a movie that intrigued by the presence of artists who were already on the way to becoming famous. Bruce Kimmel, director with Mark Haggart, record producer, award-winning success, actor, director and writer for the more theatrical. Cindy Williams, best known as an interpreter of the sitcom "Laverne & Shirley,"which in 1976 had just begun. Stephen Nathan most famous as a writer and producer than as actor. Finally, the brief cameo by Ron Howard,uncredited, but recognizable and already grappling with the series that gave the first stratospheric fame.

All things that have driven both at the time and in 2001’s version on DVD, the hit of "The First Nudie Musical."

The basic formula is the right of alchemy, as mentioned in the introduction, in a bit 'of chaste nudity, comedy, musicals and meta-cinema. Here there is the air from the Broadway musical, its parody, where everything is very cheerful. The many musical numbers are done very well and some pieces are really fun, as the scene of the song "Orgasm" or the "Dildo's Song" in which gives life to a ballet like "Alice In Wonderland" with the dancers dressed as vibrators. In contrast, however, events elsewhere in dragging slowly, nothing happens and conflicts are weak.

It is at the end a cute movie, very overrated and very lucky not quite as his main character Harry (Stephen Nathan) at the head of a "Studios" at risk bankruptcy and breathing down the neck of the usual bad creditors. Harry with his assistant, played by Cindy Williams decides to save the Studio, to make the first nude musical film in history. From this spark exploded a series of gags easily imaginable. The embarrassing of the casting a director very shy and recommended by one of the creditors. Do not miss the hysteria of the stars, from the nymphomaniac, to a well equipped actor. In two weeks, Harry needs to complete the film.
