Everything you can think can be found here. Vampires? There are, alredy in the title. Zombies? They are present too. Martial arts? How many and how you want.
This
"The Legend Of The 7 Golden Vampires" is a large container of many
different kinds, which doesn't miss two love stories.
Perhaps distracted by many influences, it has a plot more linear than a line, often predictable and without any twist. As is for the special effects features: uncertain and trivial streams of blood and body parts torn apart.
But despite everything, we have to admit that this film has its own charm. Maybe it's for that it has an 70's aurea that never abandons it, or for the fact that behind all there are
the unforgettable "Hammer Films" that those crazy boys of the
"Shaw Brothers". Union between Asia and Europe that also explains the presence of so many genres.
This is also the Last
movie of the English house on the variants of Dracula, that from 1960 to
1974 have delighted audiences and this is the second movie about the prince of darkness
without the great Christopher Lee (the first was "The Brides Of Dracula"
but did not provide the role), who renounces to the role after reading the script.
The good Peter Cushing doesn't do the same and he is in this movie in wich he has for the fifth time the role of Van Helsing.
The
British actor symbol of the "Hammer Films" often antagonist of Lee or sometimes Vincent Price, also seen in "Star Wars" as Grand Moff
Tarkin, is the protagonist of this story in which he fights a coven of
chinese vampires.
Yes Chinese vampires! Unleashed back in 1800 when a Chinese of a small village, went in Transylvania to seek help from Dracula. The
king of the vampires, more or less agrees, but he takes possession of the man
and therefore dominates the village with seven of his emissaries.
Years later, Professor Van Helsing turns universities in the world lecturing on this legend. No one believes him. But
at the end of yet another lesson is approached by a guy who claims to
come from the village and wants to sign him as leader of the mission
for the liberation of his people.
So Van Helsing, his son, a Scandinavian adventurer, the boy and his seven brothers left for the long journey to the small town. All
the way they fight with robbers and especially with the emissaries of
vampires, until the long final showdown represented by a fight that
never seems to end. As in all the stories there is a meeting between Van Helsing and Dracula. But strangely here the meeting lasts very little.
The
direction is entrusted to the expert Roy Ward Baker of which we have
already occupied by one of his most famous movies, "The Vampire Lovers"
Together
with Peter Cushing are David Chiang, the son of art, famous Asian actor
and performer of one hundred and twenty films and won numerous awards. After a long career in film began as a long-term presence in the TV series, which continues today.
Julie
Ege who plays the Nordic beauty Vanessa Van Buren, was considered by
the "Hammer Films", with whom she has worked several times, the new sex
symbol of the seventies. Apart
from this home victory in 1962 she won the title of Miss Norway and she
had a small part in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". After finishing her actress career she worked as nurse in Oslo, se won vs a cancer but another one killed her in 2008
