A monster made of frozen meat good for barbecue. A powerful drug that promises extra sensory experiences. Not bad. Really. And they are just two characteristics of a visionary film, which follows the line of the works of Douglas Adams and certainly does not stop here.

Don Coscarelli in his short filmography has not missed a beat. We left him in 2005 with an episode of "Masters Of Horror" and especially in 2002 with the cult  "Bubba Ho-Tep", we find hin, for our pleasure, in 2012 with this adaptation of a story written by David Wong . A story born on the web, finished on paper in 2004 and under the eyes of Coscarelli by chance, when the director during the purchase of books on Amazon, following the suggestion of the site and ends up in the page of "John Dies At The End ".

Thus was born a film produced by the same Coscarelli helped, among others, also by Paul Giamatti and presented and the acclaimed in the "Sundance Festival".

We agree of course, because "John Dies At The End" is a very funny movie, excellently directed and equally well played.

A horror comedy that is a vortex of events, full of humor sometimes zany, sometimes subtly ironic, a movei thant doesn't  forget to frighten, better horrify, the viewer. The excellent use of CGI, the good direction and the skill of the players, the little-known Chase Williamson and Rob Mayes, accompanied by the most famous Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti frame definitely a great movie.

It must be said, however, that the initial freshness partly fades during the movie, the fault of the many situations that we find here and the choice to put more words than anything else with the evolution of the story.

"John Dies At The End", it also has the disadvantage of us spend as incapable, because it is practically impossible to summarize the plot and it isn't nice, if you have a blog of reviews. But we try to talk about the plot. The "Soya Sauce" is a new powerful drug. It's able to led you in a trip, better than anything else. The problem is that its after-effects are  powerful the same, able to turn anyone into a kind of human with powers, so to speak paranormal, to travel through various dimensions and unfortunately even open the door to a dimension (not the one from the which we are writing, the one with Elvis Pope, but it's the other with Papa Francesco) in which arrive many evil monsters.

the role of heroes is up to John and David Wong, two guys who have dropped out of college and that, as the synopsis on the official site, they have trouble keeping a job. They have to  stop the tide of evil, a task definitely not easy.
