Considered
a "hippie" commissioner by the press of 1977, Baldi doesn't have the
reputation of the tough man of law. He hasn't also the youthful
spirit and charme of his colleague Mark ( "Mark Il Poliziotto" of
course) of which he wants to follow in some way the paths.
So it's a bit ' difficult for him to give answers to the underworld
that attacks , but fortunately, the bad guys play with themselves with
no need of a commissioner. And so this movie by Mario Caiano ,
however, less interesting than other titles , is saved thanks to the
existence of the villans and the interpretations of the same. Chris
Avram famous in genre cinema and John Steiner a certainty of cinema in
villan roles.
To them is added the figure of a slimy cop named Rampelli, who 's not
clear which side is , played by the great Ettore Manni , who, after
having fallen in love many women in so many great productions of the
fifties and sixties , became in the 70's an actor involved in many
poliziottesco and sometime in erotic movie before he died in 1979
shortly after "La Città Delle Donne" by Fellini .
All things that allow our commissioner , played by Leonard Mann to slip
discreetly into this criminal history, seeing his house destroyed his
dog killed but finding a tender friendship with the beautiful , Laura
(Maria Rosaria Omaggio) a paraplegic girl linked to one of the two
villains.
All the work is in charge to (in part) Rampelli ( Manni ), but
especially to Professor Salviati said "Il Principe" starring Avram,
very rich man, horse breeder , and Rudy ( Steiner) a mass ganster that
wants to fly very high.
Rudy wants to rule Rome with the help of his improbable men and with
that has at its tough actions . Everything seems to work , but when he
tries to reach the top, "Il Principe" the unsuspected Prof.Salviati is
forced say his opinion.
The interest of this film , at the end is only in the head-to- head
between the two bad guys, because otherwise there is very little . It
also lacks the action seen in other works by Caiano and a certain
poliziottesco pathos , also crushed by a direction not at all
surprising.
