Teenagers From Outer Space
Unfortunately, we will never have the opportunity to taste a Gargon. What a pity. This
huge crustacean completely identical to a lobster except for size, violent
attitude and a little 'hair will never end on our tables.
And we must say that some willing beings arrived from a distant galaxy, speaking
excellent English and similar in all to us had tried to import it on the planet earth.
This
is more or less the plot of "Teenagers From Outer Space," a wonderful
sci-fi in every way, with a powerful story even outside the movie. A B movie that has nothing to envy to the most famous titles. A film simply encyclopedic for the genre.
From
the very first images this work catalyzes all our attention and fills us with
wonder, that since a group of aliens (not teenagers!) lands
in the more dusty province of USA, looking for a planet where these fantastic
Gargon can be raised.
With the appropriate reliefs our planet seems to be ideal. But
of course we should be destroyed by this new people that believed to be the elected
and higher, although their ridicolous dresseses, not to mention the
shoes, that doesn't suggest that they are a chosen race.
Even
before the slaughter begins, Derek, an alien with a strange Earth name rebels
against his fellow mercenary, strong of books and culture and ran off into
the nearby town. There
he meets Betty a pretty terrestrial and after with the explanations of
the case, she helps Derek to avoid the massacre by his compatriots. The
gargoniani of course are not stupid and throw themselves on the trail
of their former partner, sowing terror and death with a ray, which as
the poster says, "Before a Beautiful Girl. One moment later a skeleton ", give no escape.
And what about kill Derek and go on with the plan? It
is ok, it would be the best solution, only that Derek is the son
of the leader of the planet and the future head of gargonians and therefore he can't die. As if that were not enough a Gargon apparently grew well on Earth with and it begins too wander around creating trouble. Derek manages it somehow.
A
realization obviously very imaginative, with special effects, that are
equal with the most famous works of the cinema history. The
ship that lands it's a corkscrew that opens a crescendo of craziness that continues
with the paralyzing ray and especially with the huge Gargon, clearly a
lobster that casts a shadow on the film. We have already talk about clothing
and as IMDB says the skeleton representing the deads,
seems to be always the same, recognizable by a small sign on the skull. The ray that kill everyone is obviously the same as used by the Martian of "Mars Attack!" By Tim Burton. Same technology as fifty years ago. The aliens apparently don't spend in research.
Easy
to talk bad about a movie like this, but it also said that in addition
to doing a crazy "B Movie" Graeff is also a pioneer and unlike that in
vogue at the time the dialogues have been made in post-production, and
then glued to the stage . Well ...not always in the right way.
The

"Teenagers
From Outer Space", doesn't stop its strange facts in the realization or
in the history but also boasts some rather lively events.
The
original title was "Killers From Outer Space" changed to what we know
today by Warner Bros, after acquiring the rights, for commercial
reasons.
The
film was released in 1959 and was filmed in Hollywood with a budget of
fourteen thousand dollars, very poor budget even for a the time, under the
direction, production, special effects and music by Tom Graeff and
the by Warner Bros who put it in the Drive in market with the second Godzilla's movie.
Bryan and Ursula Pearson also attended the production with five
thousand dollars, in exchange for a small part, a partnership ended in
court, just after the transfer of rights by Graeff to Warner.
Of
course, the film was a failure at the box office and then was sold to
television, where, thanks to the many steps it has become a cult.
Again fallen into oblivion in 1993, thanks to the usual article of a film critic regains the right reputation.
