The Teacher
Launched with a very promising slogan
on corruption of youth morality of an entire school and with a simple
but incisive title, "The Teacher" immediately looks good. And it
didn’t disappoint.
Grindhouse, tag as thriller is actually a mild and fast history that
instills a reasonable regret in the viewer: "Why I never had teachers
like that?". The ghost of a fat and old teacher faces every time on the
screen there is Diane Marshall played by the beautiful actress Angel
Tompkins discovered by Woody Allen and star of many genre films. Diane
is a twenty-eight teacher who loves sunbathing in topless on a small
boat. Some students know this and go to peek her from the first floor
of an old abandoned factory.
Sean and Lou are two of these, the first starring Jay North as a child
was the star of "Dennis the Menace". And then there's Lou the brother
of Ralf, played by Anthony James, a notorious villain of American
cinema. Ralf is not simply attracted to Diane but is obsessed to the
point that when he finds Sean and Lou, starts screaming, scaring the
brother who falls and (comically) dies.
From here Ralf seeks revenge, and became furious when he discovers that
his beloved Diane often seduces with pleasure the young Sean. Because
at the end the central point of "The Teacher" is this: the beautiful
teacher in love with a boy who is initiated into the life by the woman
who has no secret to say that she is in love with him. Ralf
doesn’t resist and all ends in a dramatic and surprising ending.
Easy, fast and fun "The Teacher" is a nice B Movie that works thanks to
the beauty of the heroine, but also thanks to a story which, although
easy, has a meaning.
Made with simplicity and a bit of unintentional humor, this film by
Hikmet Avedis is a good Grindhouse’s chapter that also has a good
soundtrack and a decent acting. Of course the fact that comes in mind
that we have never had a teacher like this is a really bad thing. But
otherwise is a good exploitation.
