Blow Job
Behind the mischievous title "Blow Job" and the various hard
declinations there isn’t a porn movie, but an erotic thriller
with a strong meaning. Noble intentions destroyed by a poor production,
(with embarrassing day for night effects and an amateur acting) from
excessive erotic inserts and a hard unobtainable version that sounds a
bit 'as a legend.
Author of this complex work is Alberto Cavallone a director
underestimated and a little 'forgotten returned to the honors of the
cinema chronicle (or at least to a certain cinema) thanks to the
valuable work of Italian magazine "Nocturno" .
The magazine of David Pulici has dedicated several special, has revived
some interviews, rescue o complex director who loved the strong themes
and the analysis of society in all its darker shades.
Exactly the theme of "Blow Job". An incomprehensible movie if you do not read at least one of these interviews.
For what we understand in this 1980's film the story is: Stefano and
Diana two actors, trying to escape secretly from the hotel in which
they live for not paying the bill. At the same time a girl commits
suicide by throwing himself from the window. Taking advantage of the
confusion of the moment the two flee and go to a race track where they
meet a strange woman who asks them a favor. The woman leads them at
home, a big castle where strange and inexplicable things happen. Until
Cavallone doesn’t explain the mystery. "It was an attempt to film
some thoughts by Castaneda, also referring back to Huxley's “The
Doors of Perception”. Everything was about on the possibility of
escape from oneself, to change the perception through the use of drugs
or self concentration (...) Blow Job is the story of a split. There is
an ugly witch - we meet in the first scene, set in a racetrack - that
through a phone call intrigue the protagonist, Danilo Micheli and take
him in a strange house; where he then meets a beautiful girl,
disturbing ... because she has a Mexican, Peruvian face... with a
statuesque body. In short, the girl puts him in, treat it as if it were
a puppet. But in fact this beautiful woman has the same ugly women,
which splits "
Full of symbolism, surreal scenes and dialogues absurd "Blow Job"
occasionally bored and its production certainly does not help to digest
it all. The characters, with the exception of the witch, are
superficial, but occasionally Cavallone gives us moments below all,
show a great class and a great intensity, as the ballroom scene or that
of the cemetery, where the protagonist sees his funeral. The ending is
the only one possible: a sublimation of all previous craziness.
Not a masterpiece, but a film that deserves to be seen from every movie buff. Or at least of a certain film.
