It’s not a revolution but it’s certainly a revelation. Because surely there was no one at the time could have predicted that the career of Martin Campbell, who later realized another comedy "Eskimo Nell", before (with calm and patience) end up in Hollywood and realize "The Mask of Zorro", "Casino Royale" in 2006, "The Legend of Zorro" and "Green Lantern" among many works.
This British sex comedy written by Michael Armstrong and Tudor Gates (already at work in "Barbarella", "Diabolik" and in films of "Hammer") shows some interesting things. Not revolutionary, but different from the genre films. There is no working class hero, but there is a cultured and elegant thief who hoards jewels. And women. Especially those. Many. Very often undressed and protagonists of moments of British humor not bad at all.
Campell behind the camera, do a good job, while the story is completed with moments of well-structured outline and with a nice soundtrack by Mike Vickers other name that we have seen in "Hammer" movies. The main protagonist is the good David Warbeck most famous for being a protagonist of Italian genre cinema that for this comedy. With him, Gerard Taylor television actor also seen in "Dr.Who" and Christopher Biggins.
"Sex Thief" tells the story of Henry Grant (Warbeck). Writer with the theft hobby, specialized in entering the homes of wealthy couples masked as Zorro, when the husband is not there, catch jewels and compensate the theft satisfying the woman.
Women are so happy to sidetrack the police telling false. The police groping in the dark, it can be said, in part because of internal problems.
Branded as "X Rated" in the United States, there is also a hard-core version entitled "Handful of diamonds" (and the title "Her Family Jewels"), with porn scenes shot by other actors, nominated for "Best Foreign Picture” in AVN Awards of 1985.
