Fulci at the end of the career has already given us his best ideas. Here he works with a poor budget and for a product for home video. A Fulci himself unconvinced of the final result of this movie between horror and thriller, which incorporates some of his ideas, some of his symbols.
With a script sometimes absurd that puts even some useless zombies and an end thrown away, (not to mention the special effects) "Voci dal profondo" isn’t a memorable film but without the several lacks is an interesting movie. Because history has its own charm, with an interesting development between the thriller and horror. In addition, above there are the good performances of two actors that keep everything standing. On the one hand the blonde Karina Huff, most famous for Vanzina’s movies, which had worked with Fulci in “La Casa del Tempo”  and on other hand there is the good Duilio Del Prete protagonists of a story full of intrigue and betrayal at the limit of the soap opera, which tells the strange murder of Carlo Mainardi (Del Prete).
Man without scruples, Mainardi, died vomiting blood. His daughter Rosy (Huff) investigates about it drive by the voice (from the deep) of her father, who speaks too much while putrefies in the coffin. The man's family with its morbid relations, its secrets and its interests is an interesting narrative construction, unfortunately thwarted by a very trivial final.
